The table constitutes two legs on either side held only by an interlocking beam running across below the table top, the table top sits on this and below the two wood pegs on either sides. But the real element which brings the whole assembly alive is the string which after passing through the top of the legs then runs below the table top and notched into place as demonstrated in the video. We wanted the rope tensioning mechanism to be a very primitive without any frills. The crotchet like tool which is also used later as a lever is used here to pull the rope through the hole in the top. This is then firmly secured after passing over the Aluminium pin. There are two provision for the C-pin, in the form of an ‘+’ to be fixed on the table top, in case after some use the rope develops some slack, so it can be turned further 90 degrees to make it stiff again. Its minimal amount of materials and unique cantilevered construction not only make it flat-pack ready and easy to transport but comfortable and open with leg room to spare.
